What is Economics?

Before I start off, I believe it would be a good idea to actually define economics. I have therefore chosen a couple of definitions from a few famous Economists.

Adam Smith - Apparently the founder of Economics (I disagree with this. Will do a post on this)

"Economics is the science of wealth." By wealth, Adam Smith mean the production of wealth, the exchange of wealth, the distribution of wealth and the consumption of wealth. Each of these are discussed in great detail in his book "The wealth of nations".
